About Us
The Marxist Summer School 2024 is hosted by Socialist Alternative – Australia’s largest revolutionary socialist group.
What we do ->
We’re involved in every fight against oppression and injustice.
We want to tear down the system of capitalism and all the oppression and injustice that comes from it.
We’ve led fights for Palestine, for climate justice, against racism, sexism and transphobia all across Australia.
We founded Students for Palestine 15 years ago, which has led the student movement for Palestine on campuses across the country.
We’re also active in our trade unions. In 2020 we led the fight against a class collaborationist deal between the university bosses and union bosses to impose a wage cut on workers in the sector.
We have members who have led strikes in workplaces across every sector from call centres and retail to factories.
We need socialist organisation to overthrow capitalism
Capitalism isn’t going to overthrow itself. Socialists need to get organised to fight against injustice and oppression, and eventually the system altogether.
As Marx said, “philosophers have only interpreted the world, the point is to change it”.
